Common Questions
How can a Physical Therapist help my pain?
All of our Physical Therapists are trained at the Doctorate level. They have extensive education which allows them to help treat a variety of conditions such as spine pain, pinched nerves, joint or muscle pain, and recovery from injuries.
Most often, movement based exercises are a key ingredient to solving pain problems but we also use a variety of techniques such as soft tissue mobilization (massage), joint mobilizations/manipulations, dry needling, traction, and more!
Do I need a referral to see Physical Therapist?
Legally, you always have access to a Physical Therapist's services. However, your insurance may require a referral to reimburse under the conditions of your plan. Most of the private insurances do not require a referral, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Sanford, CIGNA, etc. Government based insurances such as Medicare, Medicaid, VA etc. require a referral for them to reimburse costs.
Simply put, if you want to know if you need a referral or would like to know how much your insurance will pay on your bill, call our office and we will do a FREE insurance verification of benefits!
Can you explain what Dry Needling is?
This is probably the most often asked question we get at Elite PT. Dry Needling is a valuable and effective treatment for musculoskeletal pain.
Functional Dry Needling® (FDN) involves inserting a tiny monofilament needle into a muscle to release shortened bands of muscles and decrease trigger point activity. This can help resolve pain and muscle tension, and will promote healing. This is not traditional Chinese Acupuncture, but is instead a medical treatment that relies on a medical diagnosis to be effective.
Doctors Shane and Luke perform this treatment, and were trained by KinetaCore®. They have proved competency in both written and practical examinations, as well as documented over 100 case reports to achieve Level II dry needling certification.
What billing or insurance information will I receive?
Your insurance will typically send you an EOB (explanation of benefits) which details the charges, your responsibility, and the adjustments that they made (based on contracted rate).
The invoice from our office will detail the charges, your responsibility, and the adjustments as well. The billing cycles are usually done monthly and typically are received after the EOB.
